More Flexible, Feature-Laden FluidPlayer V2 Now Available
DUBLIN – FluidPlayer, a free, open-source HTML5 video player, has been updated to version 2, Smart Advertising Technologies Ltd. (SAT) announced Wednesday.
While designed for sites which publish any manner of video content, the player is also used extensively as a video content-monetization tool, due to its advanced Video Ad-Serving Template (“VAST”) capabilities.
Much of the upgrade to version 2 of the player involves its new skin, which SAT describes as an “overhauled and more aesthetically pleasing user interface with primary color configuration.”
The new skin also includes an added central play button with new play/pause animations, a new buffer and pre-loading indicator, progress bar color differentiation for both ad and non-ad video content, a feature which automatically hides controls when videos play and displays them again if they video is paused, and an optional advertisement notice to differentiate between ad content and other video content – a feature which could come in handy for complying with current and future standards requirements of various ad blockers.
According to SAT, FluidPlayer “works with any video ad server, ad network or ad exchange to display video ad formats.”
To accommodate the need to make the player fit the look and feel of publishers’ sites, SAT has made customization of the player easier and faster by regrouping the software’s configuration parameters. SAT said the player’s documentation has also been improved with the inclusion of demos of how the code works for various features.
FluidPlayer also recently added support for mid-roll and post-roll video ads to the existing pre-roll video ad format, added functionality to allow URL links and several new keyboard shortcuts for controlling the player, as well as the ability to disable those keyboard controls if desired.
