Modernized Video Player Enhances Viewer Experience
LOS ANGELES – Software developer Elevated X has modernized the video player that is among the standard equipment within the company’s eponymous content management system for adult websites.
Following the recent addition of support for HTTP Live Streaming, Elevated X implemented a brand-new video player to improve the playback experience for end-users. HLS makes it possible to stream files on a Flash-enabled PC or an iOS-based mobile device. The new video player supports the cutting-edge technology.
“Now, rather than pay for a streaming service, Elevated X CMS users can stream videos on their own server, and this is included with the CMS for free,” said Chief Executive Officer AJ Hall. “Any Flash-enabled PC or Mac, iPad or iPhone viewer can seek ahead in a video and no longer needs to wait for download. The benefit to mobile and tablet viewers is huge.”
The new video player is based on the JW Player 6 and includes a new “skin” for a sleeker and more modern appearance. Below the surface, automatic bandwidth and quality adjustment deliver the optimal file for each end-user based on his or her internet connection, which the software automatically detects.
“One of the most exciting additions is an inline video preview within the player,” Hall said. “When viewing a movie, if you move the timeline’s ‘seek’ bar, a thumbnail will appear to give you a preview of the action at that spot in the video.”
Several other changes enhance the video playback experience further, according to Hall. The player window now fills the screen automatically and will scale to a smaller window (320 pixels) for people watching on an iPhone or a larger window (1024 pixels) for those viewing on an iPad. The new functionality extends to video trailers incorporated in website tours as well as video files inside members areas.
