Mobile Porn Gets Pulled From China Unicom
CHINA – Mobile provider China Unicom stopped accepting content from its service provider (SP) Shanghai Huiyang Technology Company to curtail distribution of pornographic content made available to mobile phone users.The pornographic content is a great source of concern at China Unicom, and according to Zhou Xiaoping, deputy general manager of the Value-Added Services Department of China Unicom, the concerned departments have been ordered to seriously deal with the issue.
The illicit content allegedly supplied by Huiyang was included a mobile dictionary that users could download and use on their mobile devices.
As part of their agreements, China Unicom signs “Internet Access Safety and Obligation Guarantee” and “Mobile Value-added Service Cooperation” contracts with each of their SPs and CPs (content providers) to ensure that neither party publishes or releases any illegal information.
All forms of pornography, including DVDs, magazines and online pornography are banned and considered illegal in China.
