Missouri Meth Freak Confesses to Sex Toy Thefts
SPRINGFIELD, MO – The moral minority frequently attends city council meetings demanding protection from the alleged secondary effects of adult entertainment establishments – but it never offers any protections to the businesses from the secondary effects of living in a modern society. Fortunately, three adult businesses ripped off by a meth freak who admits to doing “crazy things” have successfully seen their day in court.Daniel Edward Ray, a 36-year-old man with a serious drug problem, unexpectedly came clean – at least as regards breaking into three different novelty stores and walking off with several thousand dollars worth of merchandise.
Originally scheduled for a Greene County Circuit Court pretrial conference, Ray changed the agenda for the day by contradicting his earlier not guilty plea, admitting three counts of second-degree burglary.
Ray was arrested in January after surveillance cameras linked him and a van he used as a battering ram to sex toy thefts from Cosmic Fish, Victoria’s Palace, and Adam and Eve – all during an impressive 90-minute crime spree. With sentencing set for September, Ray faces the possibility of 21 years in prison.
In a probable cause statement, Ray opined that the robberies were a result of being high on methamphetamines, which compel him to do “crazy things.” He did not indicate whether attending city council meetings and condemning sex toy stores was on the list of “crazy things” the drugs have made him do.
