Mike Stabile of FSC is This Week’s Guest on Adult Site Broker Talk
PATTAYA, Thailand – Mike Stabile, Director of Public Affairs for the Free Speech Coalition, is this week’s guest on the Adult Site Broker Talk podcast, show host Bruce Friedman announced today.
In the interview, Stabile discusses the FSC’s roots as an organization, observing that when the FSC first started, it was in an “environment not so dissimilar from the one that face today.
“It was in the early nineties, the department of justice, the FBI in conjunction with local vice squads were raiding adult businesses,” Stabile noted, observing that the Meese Commission had recently finished its work, leading to “a policy of going after pretty much every big adult business that they could think of.”
These days, Stabile added, while the FSC still plays a major role in defending the industry against regulatory assaults and lobbying against (often likely unconstitutional) bills, the organization has increased its scope to include a greater focus on workers’ rights.
“Once we became a trade association, we had people who really wanted to talk about how to protect people who were working on set and what their rights would look like,” Stabile said. “But as the industry has changed, performers have become more independent, right? They don’t need studios, they don’t need agents, necessarily. They can run their own businesses through platforms like OnlyFans and Fan Centro and JustFor.Fans and, you know, the 30 or so platforms that have exploded the past year.”
Starting today, you can listen to Stabile’s appearance on Adult Site Broker Talk at AdultSiteBrokerTalk.com. You can also follow Stabile and FSC on Twitter, @mikestabile and @FSCArmy, respectively. Mike can be contacted through his website, PolariMedia.com, or through the FSC website.
