Mike Pinto On Smuttyfy Tokens And Porn’s Crypto Future
LISBON, Portugal — In our latest look into the world of crypto and blockchain’s take over the adult entertainment industry, YNOT sat down and chatted with SmuttyFy’s Mike Pinto in an exclusive interview. Pinto is the chief executive officer and founder of the popular adult social networking brand.
Pinto and his team created SmuttyFy to serve as a haven on the web to promote adult content, accessories and apparel — and to build a loyal community of fans. He also runs SmuttyFans.com, which is SmuttyFy’s answer to platforms like OnlyFans and LoyalFans. SmuttyFans and SmuttyFy provide monetization and marketing platforms for content creators, studios, producers and performers through a reliable and safe environment.
To build on the growing popularity of blockchain technology, Pinto positioned SmuttyFy to release their own tokens, the SmuttyFy Network Tokens, as a means to democratize the company’s ownership. YNOT reached out to Pinto to ask a few questions about his company’s tokenization and foray into NFTs and other sorts of blockchain protocol.
YNOT: Why did your company adopt tokens?
Pinto: Tokens have been around forever. More recently, with the widespread of cryptocurrencies, Tokens gained some momentum with the NFT phenomenon. What we did was represent the “ownership” of the Smutty Network into a fungible token. This allows the community to be a part of making the project grow.
YNOT: How do the Smutty Tokens work?
Pinto: Those tokens grant rights – the ownership– and when the time comes, the rise of value in our company grows and becomes more profitable. Also, there have been talks regarding the usage of said tokens as a means of payment. Currently, these tokens are not a cryptocurrency. Several parties are interested in the Smutty Tokens as an investment.
YNOT: How long do you expect it to take the token to pickup?
Pinto: Once wallets are in place to make our tokens more “usable,” we firmly believe that this is a question of time – months? – that will be answered by the reception of the tokens in the future.
YNOT: Is crypto the future for the adult industry?
Pinto: Crypto shakes things up. It’s decentralized, owned by many (opposed to owned by “one”), with specific rules – or even lack thereof in some cases. Crypto will make transactions easier, faster, cheaper, and safer for everyone involved.
That said, yes, crypto is the future of the adult industry and many other sectors that see their sustainability limited by the established banking system. We believe that crypto shouldn’t be used for illegal activities. Sadly, this will be a persistent issue for the years to come.
YNOT: Do you have plans for NFTs or supporting other types of crypto projects?
Pinto: Yes, we do. SmuttyFy, SmuttyFans, and other Smutty Network projects soon to be released will give special attention to the capability of anyone tokenizing their content.
YNOT: So, tokenizing to you includes NFTs?
Pinto: We believe that every time someone, adult industry or not, produces some unique content of an object, someone should mint an NFT for it. That NFT would work like the deed to a house, providing ownership and authenticity. You buy the NFT to own the object.
YNOT: Care to elaborate on that a little more?
Pinto: As said, SmuttyFy and SmuttyFans have crypto in their foundation, and payments with crypto have been available since day one. Not only Bitcoin but several hundred different types of digital currencies.
YNOT: Any last thoughts?
Pinto: All projects to come will be based on the same philosophy of including crypto and blockchain technology. Crypto is the future for this industry and many others!
