Mickey Mod Takes Over ‘Behind Kink’
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Behind Kink, the official blog of fetish studio Kink.com, has re-launched under a new editor, bearing a new purpose and look.
Founded in 1997 and updated only sporadically until recently, Behind Kink will play a larger role in the studio’s marketing and outreach strategies going forward, according to Mickey Mod.
Mod, a performer who was named editor of the blog in June, has spent the past several months developing the news, discussions and behind-the-scenes videos that will form the core of the revamped site’s content. The new editor said he wants to bring “a performer’s sensibility” to the online destination, taking readers behind the camera for an up-close-and-personal view of Kink.com and the BDSM lifestyle.
“I want the site to contain in-depth interviews, vignettes that provide a closer look at the Armory [Kink.com’s headquarters], the directors, the BDSM community and alternative sexualities,” Mod said. “Kink’s mission as a company is to demystify, inform and educate people about BDSM, and I think Behind Kink can be integral to that.”
The biggest change users will notice is a new focus on video production instead of the articles that dominated under previous editorial teams, Mod indicated.
“The mainstream public has a lot of misconceptions about what happens behind Armory walls,” he said. “My vision is to provide a better sense of transparency about our community, our performers and our fans.”
Mod got his start in adult at Kink in 2008 and has been nominated for a number of awards, including and AVN Award nod in 2010 for Best Support Performer. Having studied cinema and film at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the Bay Area, Mod is no stranger to manning a camera.
His first piece on the site, an interview with new director Sebastian Keys, went live on Tuesday.
