Mexican Traffic Check Yields Sex Toy Harvest
JUAREZ, MEXICO – Visitors to the large Mexican-American border city of Juárez often find themselves in a world unlike what they might have expected. Instead of the lush beaches and tropical jungles of Mexico, the cowboy culture of the city thrives in the middle of the Chihuahuan Desert and is known for its criminal element. Known for illegal drug and human trafficking, as well as the not-so-occasional murder, the city borders El Paso, standing across the Rio Grande and packed with adventure.
Members of the Mexican army know the area is dangerous, but they likely didn’t realize how eccentric it could be until this week, when they uncovered a unique cache of stolen goods.
Instead of guns, knives, ammunition or drugs, a Thursday morning traffic check on the Casas Grandes highway south of the city revealed two men keen to import an assortment of items into their great nation.
While in many ways not nearly as impressive as the 1,300 murders that took place within the city in 2008, the Joint Operation Chihuahua haul will likely keep those who hear about it talking for some time.
According to the Sun-News, removed from a tractor-trailer being driven by the two men were 1,200 old tires, bundles of used clothing, boxes of dietary weight supplements – and dozens of glow-in-the-dark sex toys.
Alas for the citizens who might have delighted in each of these items, the two men were unable to prove that they had been imported legally and so they were turned over to federal authorities.
What has become of the glow-in-the-dark sex toys is unknown.
