Marines Un-Invite Guest of Honor for Birthday Bash Because Jenna Jameson Was To Be His Guest
MIRAMAR, CA – With just two weeks remaining until the Marine Corps’ birthday celebration, the Corps is lacking a guest of honor for its celebratory ball, to be held in Miramar.According to a report published on MarineCorpsTimes.com, the lack of a headliner guest stems from the decision to “un-invite” the previously anointed Man of the Hour, Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter Tito Ortiz – because Ortiz intended to bring along his new girlfriend, porn star Jenna Jameson.
Major Jason Johnston, a spokesman for the Marine Corps Air Station in Miramar told the MarineCorpsTimes that once it “became aware to us that his guest was going to be his girlfriend…. we had to make a decision, and the decision made was that she was not an individual or guest that we really felt was appropriate for the Marine Corps ball.”
Johnston added that Miramar officials initially hoped that Ortiz might be persuaded to simply come alone and leave his porn star girlfriend at home, but Ortiz was not receptive to that idea.
“His point was, hey, that’s his girlfriend, they’re very much in love, and he’s going to have to decline the offer,” Johnston said, adding that “we very much understand.”
According to MarineCorpsTimes.com, the decision to ask Ortiz not to bring Jameson, and Ortiz’s subsequent withdrawal from the event, came two days after a brief article ran on MarineCorpsTimes.com that quoted 2nd Lt. Katheryn Putnam, another Miramar spokesperson, as confirming that Miramar expected Ortiz and Jameson to both attend the ball.
While doubtlessly many among the rank and file didn’t mind the idea of playing host to a popular porn star, Master Gunnery Sgt. Larry Kuzniak didn’t like the idea one bit.
Kuzniak told MarineCorpsTimes.com that he couldn’t sleep the night after he heard the news and made a point of relaying the news to his unit’s senior enlisted Marines.
“These guys in Miramar are making a mockery of what is supposed to be tradition,” Kuzniak told MarineCorpsTimes.com. “It should be about the Marine Corps, not about the movie stars and the athletes. If you’re not going to observe tradition, you might as well just let it die. Next thing you know, Barbra Streisand will be out there.”
Instead of celebrities, Kuzniak suggests, why not feature as guest of honor one of the 13 Marines that has received the Navy Cross since 9-11, or “maybe this is that year that we take that lance corporal from the convoy that’s out there every day.”
Far from seeing it as rude, Kuzniak said the decision to un-invite Ortiz was the correct move.
“That’s probably the first right thing they’ve done is to be embarrassed by this,” Kuzniak said. “It’s just totally embarrassing.”
Johnston noted that officials from Miramar didn’t know that Jameson was Ortiz’s girlfriend when they extended an invitation to Ortiz, and only found out after Ortiz notified them of his intent to bring Jenna along.
“When you invite someone, you don’t go into it thinking ‘who is the individual and who might they bring as a guest,’” Johnston said.
Johnston added that requesting that Jameson not attend the ball is “not a black-list decision by the Marine Corps,” and that he hopes both Ortiz and Jameson will visit the Miramar station before the close of the year.
Jameson Gets First “Mainstream” Role:
In other Jenna-related news, Jameson will reportedly star alongside Korn vocalist Jonathon Davis in the movie Sin-Jyn Smith, an independent horror film due to be released around this time next year.
According to TheRockRadio.com, Davis plays the title character, Sin-Jyn Smith, a “mysterious convict who is being transferred to a new prison and is ultimately revealed to be the devil.”
In addition to Jameson and Davis, Sin-Jyn Smith will also feature former pro wrestling star Roddy Piper.
