Manhunt Goes Mobile with iPhone, Android Apps
YNOT – Gay hookup site Manhunt.net has begun offering both iPhone- and Android-based mobile applications, becoming the first in the gay adult sector to do so, according to a company statement.
“Manhunt is all about giving guys what they want, when they want it, so we always look to our members to tell us which products and features matter most to them,” Manhunt Chief Marketing Officer Todd Sowers said. “We know that our members want to be able to access all of the great features of Manhunt when they’re on the go, so we’re thrilled to have launched both iPhone and Android apps for them just in time for the New Year.”
The apps augment the site’s existing mobile presence: the mobile web-based application m.Manhunt.net, which makes Manhunt’s reported four million member profiles available to users via any mobile web browser. During the first quarter of 2011, the company plans to roll out a new version of the web app that incorporates GPS functionality, among other things, Sowers noted.
The iPhone and Android apps have proved popular, if downloads are any indication. During the soft launch that occurred the week before New Year, the apps were downloaded a total of 10,000 times at a rate of about 5,000 per hour, Sowers said.
Both new apps are free. The iPhone app is available in the the Apple Store, and Android users may obtain a copy in the Android Market. Additional information about both may be found at Apps.Manhunt.net.
