Male Spectrum Lampoons Mormons with Gay Adult Video
VAN NUYS, Calif. – Gay adult studio Male Spectrum hopes the video it released on its website Wednesday will enlighten the public about “latter-day homosexuality.” The video recreates a seminal meeting between Mormon Prophet Joseph Smith and Jesus.Gay adult studio. Mormons. Jesus and Joseph Smith. Whatever you’re imagining right now probably is exactly what happens in the video.
Most likely the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints will not take this well. Always anti-gay, the church was a major supporter of California’s Proposition 8, which amended the state constitution to outlaw same-sex marriage. Although the church has softened its stand on homosexuality in recent years — no longer requiring gay and lesbian members to marry as long as they agree to live celibate lives, for example — it continues to see homosexuality as a sin and an “aberration against God.”
“No one was more surprised than us to find that the Mormon Church originally took a very different position with respect to homosexuality,” said Kim Kysar, brand manager of Male Spectrum. “This history lesson came to us through a very reliable source. After verifying the authenticity, and after careful consideration, Male Spectrum decided to recreate the historic meeting in what we hope will be a motivational film that sways the Mormon Church back towards its previous views.”
Part of the “His First Gay Sex” series, the video stars Zach Hazzard and Kaden Bailey.
“I got the role of Jesus, which was quite an honor,” Hazzard said. “I never thought I’d get to be the Son of God. The guy I worked with who played Joseph Smith was hot. We’ve worked together before and I love outdoor scenes, which this one was.”
Bailey found the role both taxing and amusing.
“This was the weirdest [shoot] I have ever done, but also the most fun,” he said. “Playing Joseph Smith meant wearing a costume from the 1800s, which was a bit odd, but the waistcoat was actually kind of hot. My first scene was a solo, which was funny enough, but it was really hard doing the duo — having to keep a straight face whilst delivering lines to a guy with more facial hair than a yeti.”
In order to keep the production on down-low, Male Spectrum filmed the entire reenactment in England, far away from its usual production facilities in California and Montreal.
“All joking aside folks, we had a lot of fun shooting this episode,” said Kysar. “We as a company respect everyone’s right to their own opinion and appreciate the opportunity to poke a little fun at views that are opposed to our own.”
