Lifestyles to Debut New Condoms with Sexy Ads
RICHMOND, AUSTRALIA — LifeStyles Condoms is set to debut later this month a latex-free condom that reportedly is so thin it’s barely noticeable.SKYN condoms will bow with an advertising campaign that undoubtedly designed to push conservative buttons. The spots comprise a montage evoking, but not explicitly showing, hot bodies at play: A man flips a scantily-clad woman on a bed. Her underwear is remarkably skin-toned.
The ads represent a distinct departure from their forbearers in their straightforward erotic message. Previously, condom ads tended toward the humorous: Witness Trojan’s notorious (and still funny) “Trojan Man” commercials of a decade ago and more recent print campaign depicting unenlightened men as literal pigs.
Condom sales worldwide have been rising as the global economy falls. Sales were up 5-percent at the end of 2008.
