LFP and VCA Tap MySpace for Exclusive Indie Rock Talent
LOS ANGELES, CA – It’s the lazy daydream of every creative person to be discovered in the most mundane of locations: browsing the produce section, waiting for a bus, partying with a friend, buying a latte, walking down the street, or otherwise just leading a normal life. Stories about big name talent that has gone from rags to riches “overnight” after being accidentally discovered continue to inspire and motivate hopefuls — and now 28 indie rock bands can raise their collective hands as true believers, while guerilla marketers nod their heads sagely, comfortable that they’re on the right track.Director Ron Royster is responsible for the renewed faith, thanks to his decision to shop for musical talent online in the infamous MySpace blogger community. Atomic Vixens, his first feature for VCA Pictures, will showcase not only the talents of Lacie Heart, Justine Joli, Mika Tan, Leah Luv, Tyler Houston, Jade Starr, Marie Luv, Ashley Steele, and James Deen, but also exclusive tracks from Punk Bunny, Chocolate Eargasms, Sixgun, Dead Sexy, Vagabond, Dancin’ Shoes, The Shifters, and G-Spot Tornado.
“I am more proud of Atomic Vixens and its soundtrack than anything else in my adult career,” Royster insists. “It took five straight weeks of listening to hundreds of bands and finding 30 perfect songs, all from unsigned brilliant musicians!”
Atomic Vixens tells the story of a future wherein eight beauties with sexy superpowers defend the world from wickedness and evil doers. Its soundtrack is the first-ever example of a licensed soundtrack featuring the music of unsigned artists found on the MySpace blogger community.
No stranger to innovation or the internet, publisher Larry Flynt observes that “MySpace is the forum for a new generation of artist, offering a true independent outlet. It is my great pleasure to recognize a community promoting artists and their right to freedom of expression. I am happy to give further exposure through LFP’s immense distribution channels.”
In addition to the traditional LPF/VCA methods of distribution, interest in the video, which was released on April 18th after record pre-order sales, the thousands of online “friends” linked to each MySpace blog is expected to further increase sales of the two-disc DVD set, which is available even in mainstream retail outlets including Tower Records.
A MySpace page devoted to the video has been created at www.MySpace.com/AtomicVixens.
