Legal Victory Returns LELO to U.S. Market
STOCKHOLM – After winning a two-year patent battle that kept its products out of the North American market, Swedish manufacturer LELO has recommenced shipping its popular pleasure devices to the U.S.
The Tiani Couples Massager, along with the Tiani 2, Tiani 3, NOA, the Indulge Me Pleasure Set and the Bridal Pleasure Set have returned to the company’s catalog, according to a LELO statement.
Worn by women during intercourse, the Tiani Couples’ Massager topped sales charts in the U.S. before an International Trade Commission ruling based on competitor Standard Innovation Corporation’s patent-infringement complaint temporarily halted U.S. importation in June 2013.
A U.S. Court of Appeals reversed the ITC’s ruling, and the ITC’s investigation of the matter subsequently determined there is no longer a basis for the general exclusion order or the cease-and-desist orders previously issued.
While LELO representatives said they were delighted to recommence shipments, they expressed displeasure about Standard Innovation’s business tactics. LELO reps maintain that Standard Innovation’s actions were intended solely to prevent competition for its We-Vibe product line. LELO continues to pursue separate litigation against Standard Innovation in U.S. courts.
