Leana Lovings Talks AI Threat to Porn Stars with Forbes
Adult film star Leana Lovings discusses the threat posed by Artificial Intelligence (AI) to adult content and its stars in a comprehensive and thought-provoking new Forbes article by Emily Baker-White.
In “Consent Is Core To Porn. Performers Say AI Threatens To Take It Away,” Lovings tells the writer that the threat of AI is most pronounced for performers such as herself, who have shot a high number of scenes, thus making it easier for AI to impersonate them. “The more scenes that we have out, the better of a rendition they’ll be able to make of us,” she notes.
While she hopes lawmakers create new remedies for those whose likenesses are misused without their consent (“I wish there was more legislation that would enable us to act on those things”), nonetheless, the award-winning young star, who embraces a humanist philosophy, indicates she doubts that a computer running a soulless AI program can ever truly replace the genuine emotional characteristics of human performers.
“It feels surreal to be considered a voice with experience on the threat that AI poses to our business,” Lovings commented on the published piece, with trademark humility. “I never would have expected AI to be something that would have such prevalence in my life or the lives of other performers this soon into the century, and I also hope that the insight we’ve shared is something that inspires change to how we are currently treating this issue.”
“Consent Is Core To Porn. Performers Say AI Threatens To Take It Away” is currently available on Forbes.
In other news, Lovings is also thrilled to have been selected as an iconic “Hustler Honey” in the January 2024 edition of HUSTLER Magazine, and featured in the boy/girl pictorial “Express Yourself
“Before shooting mainstream porn, I was in college, studying biology and psychology,” Lovings tells the magazine. “I started camming because I was looking for a flexible job. Doing something online seemed like a good option, and it allowed me to explore my sexuality in a safe way. I grew up in a religious environment, and I’d say that sex work healed my childhood repression, gave me confidence and taught me how to entertain. Specifically, camming taught me how to read a room and cater my performance to the wants of my fans, and being on adult sets taught me collaboration.
“Outside of work, I’m an illustrator and photographer. I’m passionate about art and expressing myself, and it’s important to me that when I create, I create things that have meaning. I believe that the world would be a better place if people accepted themselves and loved others without prerequisites.”
Lovings, who has just been named an Adult Time brand ambassador and has begun directing for the platform, adds, “I hope that I can be an artist who gets others to see the world in that way. Let’s judge less. Let’s listen. Wear that cute dress or bright colors. Be you! I know that I look very young, but I have a lot to say.”
