Lawsuit Prompts Exxxotica New York Convention Move to – Edison NJ
EDISON, NJ — Mayor Dennis Elwell of Secaucus, NJ has managed to keep his town from being exposed to anything too exotic – or at least made it more difficult. So offended was the mayor by the idea of the Exxxotica New York adult entertainment convention renting the Meadowlands Expo Center that he filed suit to force this weekend’s event into another venue. “I’m not a prude,” he insisted to the press, “but I just don’t think this is the kind of event we want in Secaucus.”
According to Elwell, it’s all about the presumably deadly combination of alcohol and bare human flesh. In the Meadowlands Expo Center’s case, even if the event was booze-free, the building’s liquor license prevents it from hosting any events with nudity.
Fortunately for Victory Tradeshow Management, the event’s organizers, the New Jersey Conventino and Expo Center in Edison, NJ does not have the same restrictions, although its representatives have not yet shared their opinions of the newly inherited soiree with the press.
“Due to an issue with the liquor license,” tradeshow director J. Handy explained in a press release, “we wouldn’t have been able to present Exxxotica as we planned it. We decided to take an aggressive approach to make sure that this show happened as scheduled for the fans, our vendors, and the stars.”
Ron Jeremy, perhaps one of the world’s most well-known industry woodsmen, had sharper words on the subject, especially for Elwell, whom the Record of Hackensack quotes him as calling “stupid and unfair.”
Updates on the event, which will include seminars, performances, parties, and a tradeshow floor, can be found at www.ExxxoticaExpo.com.
