ALABAMA — Kathleen Dawn West, 42, was found dead, lying face down and partially nude, in front of her suburban home in Calera, AL — roughly 35 miles south of Birmingham — on the morning of Jan. 13 2018.

West, known online as Kitty Kat West, was supposedly living a “double life” as a stay at home mom and an “online exhibitionist.”

West’s husband, William “Jeff” West, 44, has been charged with her murder. He has maintained his innocence since January and has since suggested his $500,000 bond is excessive.

In addition to wild speculations about the logistics of the crime itself – Staged crime scene! A boozy row! Date night gone wrong! — West is repeatedly referred to in the media as a “secret porn star.”

Here’s one especially scintillating passage that invokes all sorts of scandal-associated social cues:

With a resemblance to Marilyn Monroe, [West] called herself an exhibitionist and posted risqué photos with a chance for subscribers to see sexier images for $15.99 a month…

The slain woman’s parents had no immediate comment on the arrest. After the slaying, mother Nancy Martin posted a photo of her smiling daughter and son-in-law on Facebook, and in a post seeking money for funeral expenses she referred to “Kat” as “a cherished wife to Jeff, as well as a loving mother to their daughter.”

West was not a porn star, and the “secret” nature of her “double life” is yet to be proven.

In reality, West appears to have been working to cultivate an online presence as a sexy, stay-at-home MILF-type personality. She does not appear to have ever done porn or have ever been on cam, though perhaps she had done some independent work. West had a small Twitter following (less that 2K) but a sizable, private Instagram (over 50K followers). Her OnlyFans account is currently redirecting to a 404 message.

Regardless of speculations, West’s passing is tragic. She seems to have been well-liked by her peers and leaves behind at least one child — none of which stops the mainstream from click-baiting the fuck out of her death, though.
