Joint Statement of Woodhull and ScreamingO Regarding Summit Workshop
Cyberspace – On August 4, 2017, experts paid for by ScreamingO participated in a workshop, dealing with body safe sex toys, held at the Woodhull Sexual Freedom Summit 2017 (“Summit”), in the metro Washington D.C. area. The Summit was hosted by the Woodhull Freedom Foundation (“Woodhull”). ScreamingO did not sponsor the workshop as Woodhull does not permit sponsored workshops. The panel was recorded by ScreamingO, and a video of the entire presentation was published on ScreamingO’s website.
Due to some miscommunications and misunderstandings by both parties as to the need to obtain audience consent prior to recording the workshop, the published video included audio recording of audience participation. The full video has since been removed from ScreamingO’s website, and replaced with an edited version which does not include any audience participation.
Both parties apologize for any confusion that may have resulted from this issue, and ScreamingO has agreed to never publish any portion of the video containing audience participation. It will further cooperate in efforts to remove the video from any third-party outlets.
Woodhull and ScreamingO respect the privacy rights of the Summit attendees and are happy this matter has been resolved in an amicable fashion.
