John Oliver Suggests India Make Porn Mandatory
New York, N.Y. – Comedian John Oliver used his weekly HBO comedy show Last Week Tonight to have some fun with the Indian government’s short-lived decision to ban hundreds of seemingly random porn sites. Although the ban was quickly reversed, that didn’t stop Oliver from mining a little comedy gold out of the situation.
There are hundreds of thousands of adult websites online, but the India ban specifically targeted 857 sites, including sites with URLs such as www.jizzhut.com, www.ass-butt.com and www.momhandjob.com.
“If you’re a fan of one of those sites, it was probably an emotionally turbulent day for you,” quipped Oliver. “Although, if you’re a fan of momhandjob.com, I’m guessing every day is an emotionally turbulent day.”
Oliver went on to show clips from a TV debate about the subject. One proponent of the ban, when asked how someone watching porn in his or her own home could possibly be a cause for public concern, suggested the act could turn an otherwise normal person into a “sex maniac.”
That’s when Oliver offered the lawmakers a clever approach to solving the “sex maniac” problem. Noting that additional banned sites included URLs such as www.randyhags.com, www.oldwomanface.com and the “penis-haunting” www.maturewitch.com, Oliver offered making viewing of these sites mandatory for everyone in India.
“India, if you want your population to look at less pornography, don’t just unblock these sites, make them mandatory,” said Oliver. “Because believe me, after looking at them I never want to have sex again.”
