Jimmyjane to Match Donations for Hurricane Harvey Relief
CHATSWORTH, Calif. – To ease the devastating human cost Hurricane Harvey left in its wake, pleasure products manufacturer Jimmyjane has launched a fundraising campaign to support relief efforts.
For the entire month of September, the company will collect financial donations through a special web page and match all funds raised. All monies raised, plus the matching funds, will be given to the non-profit Houston Food Bank.
“While there is nothing sexy about the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey, there is pleasure in giving,” the company noted in a prepared statement about the fundraising drive.
CharityNavigator.org gave Houston Food Bank its highest rating — four of four stars — and named the non-profit one of the top charitable organizations in Texas. In distribution numbers, Houston Food Bank is the largest in the U.S. The organization works with a network of 600 hunger-relief charities, feeding 800,000 people each year. During the 2016-2017 fiscal year, the food bank distributed 83 million meals.
“A lot of our employees have friends and families in the Texas area, and seeing so many people in need of help, we felt compelled to do something,” said Nick Orlandino, chief executive officer for Diamond Products, which encompasses the brands Jimmyjane, Pipedream and Sir Richard’s. “Through Jimmyjane.com, we have the ability to collect donations and we, as a company, are happy to be fortunate enough to match those donations and help people in need.”
More information about the online fundraiser is available at Jimmyjane.com/support-houston. Donations may be made through Sept. 30; no purchase is necessary.
Every dollar donated to the Houston Food Bank pays for three meals for one individual.
