Philadelphia, PA — Sex educator and Wicked Pictures contract star jessica drake is slated to participate in a session during the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) conference.
drake, along with sex therapist Angela Gunn, will participate in the session titled: “Sex Workers as Allies and Teachers: Exploring Why We Need Them in Our Professional Circles, and What We Can Learn From Them About Sex Education, Navigating Oppression and Healing.” The session will be held on Saturday, June 15 at 2:45 pm. Speakers drake and Gunn will be moderated by Hernando Chaves.
The conference will take place June 13-16 at Loews Philadelphia Hotel in Philadelphia. The event will gather professionals from a variety of disciplines such as sexuality education, counseling, therapy, research, social work, psychology, sociology, nursing, medicine and more. drake’s appearance marks one of the few times an adult performer or sex worker has occupied a presenting/speaking capacity at the event.
“This will be my third year attending, and my very first year to present at the conference. I am so grateful to Angie for partnering with me, and I’m incredibly pleased our panel was selected by AASECT,” drake said.
“It’s a great opportunity to acknowledge and explore the valuable contributions sex workers provide to our understanding of sexuality, relationships and ability to express ourselves intimately. I’m excited at the prospect of so many professionals from various backgrounds joining together and exploring the unique value of sex workers’ lived experiences.”
drake stated that she hopes the session will “challenge some ideas of who we are and what we truly need from allies and professionals alike, while also sharing sentiments gathered from many different sex workers. Someone you know is or was a sex worker. Let us share some ideas with you in hopes of establishing a stronger rapport and increasing understanding and compassion.”
