iPhones, iPads Just Got a Whole Lot More Interactive
YNOT – With the tablet-computer market growing at an astounding rate, websites of all kinds are scrambling to ensure users have mobile access to the same content they’re accustomed to consuming on the desktop.
Live-chat provider Video Secrets is no exception. The challenges of translating an established, interactive audio-visual platform from the web to the smaller screen (and bandwidth) of mobile devices are somewhat daunting, but on Thursday the company launched the first phase in what it said will be a series of upgrades that will mobilize not only flagship website Flirt 4 Free, but also all of the white-label sites in the Video Secrets network.
The first phase opens the network to connections from iOS devices like the iPhone, iPod and iPad.
The update to the chat and video system allows users of iOS devices to stream high-quality live interaction without the need for plugins. The entire user interface was re-engineered from the bottom up with optimization for handheld devices in mind. The key elements in the chat interface reorient smoothly when a user switches from portrait to landscape viewing, and the HTML5 source code has a small footprint to ensure fast loading and room-switching.
“We are constantly looking for other platforms to extend our core product,” said Greg Clayman, co-founder and president of parent company VS Media Inc. “We are proud to release the site now that it is fully capable of reaching the high standards we set.”
Affiliates of Video Secrets are already taking advantage of the new compatibility without any additional work, Clayman added. All white-label templates were updated to support the HTML5-based video and chat delivery that is based on browser-detection, so webmasters do not need to segment their traffic.
The next phase of compatibility updates is scheduled to emerge in January. Video Secrets is playing its cards close to the vest, but a company spokesperson hinted that the company’s next move will be to debut one-on-one and multi-user paid shows on handheld devices. The plan also includes expanding the range of devices, manufacturers and operating systems compatible with the mobile system.
Video Secrets pays up to 50-percent recurring revenue share. More information is available at the website or by email.
