Industry Veteran Generating Valuable Publicity with Press Releases
CYBERSPACE – Adult industry consultant Lori Z has used a variety of industry-specific press services to raise awareness of her company’s latest offerings. Using industry media outlets such as YNOT, Lori is generating publicity for her company’s new service. The strategy is simple:
“As much exposure as possible for the client,” explained Lori. “Blanketing PR’s across as many news and resources sites as possible ensures a high percentage of eyeballs will see the PR at some point. And many sites have other services such as syndicating the PRs or turning them into news headlines, etc., so you want to cover all bases and generate more exposure. It begins with the PR submission and then that spiders its way out. Also, the more places you publish, the more chances of it being seen more than once and hence, if you didn’t catch their attention with the first look, then after a few times seeing it you want them to say, ‘Well, guess I better check it out.’”
“It doesn’t hurt to get all the free publicity you can,” advised Lori. “And I do find the return to be quite good actually based on feedback and business that has come in as a result of seeing a PR up on ‘xyz’ site. But, on another note about ‘free publicity,’ is anything really free at the end of day?”
Press releases don’t write themselves. Someone has to spend the time to write and publish them. Whether it’s an employee, a staff writer, or company owner, the actual cost of a press release is in the time it takes a person to write it.
Lori offered advice on writing a good press release. “Have something that is press-worthy, and put in additional items that are of use to the webmaster over and above just what the PR title is about. Keep it short. Also, the title is very important and has to be descriptive.”
