GENEVA, IL– Kane County is working to rezone a now-closed strip club so that a new adult business will not be able to open on the premises.Thumpers Gentlemen’s Club closed earlier this year and, according to county officials, the building has housed various adult businesses over the last 60 years. The city of Geneva asked the county to rezone the property after it was vacated and put on the market for sale. The city would like it to be used for office or non-adult retail purposes.

According to Phil Page, Geneva’s city administrator, the former use of the property is incompatible with nearby neighborhoods of single-family homes and businesses and out of step with the city’s vision for development. Although the site is unincorporated, it lies within Geneva’s planning jurisdiction, Page said.
