Ignacio Hernandez Becomes New FSC State Lobbyist
CANOGA PARK, CA — As the old year comes to its finally transition toward the new, the Free Speech Coalition (FSC) announces yet another advancement for its members and the industry. In addition to its recently released Code of Ethics, the FSC has now added Ignacio Hernandez as its new California lobbyist. In a press release distributed today, FSC executive director Diane Duke assures members that “Ignacio is a highly effective lobbyist. As an attorney and a lobbyist, he not only knows his way around the state capital, he knows his way around the law.”
Employed by the Law Office of Ignacio Hernandez, the new lobbyist’s firm provides full-service advocacy services with a specialty in progressive issues. Among the firm’s clients are the Consumer Federation of California, California Attorneys for Criminal Justice, Farmworker Institute for Leadership and Development (FIELD) and the Latino Issues Forum.
Hernandez, who founded the firm, has an extensive background working at the State Capital, in addition to his experience with legal issues and civil rights. His previous employment includes work as the Chief of Staff for State Senator Gloria Romero and service as Committee Consultant for the Assembly Committee on Public Safety. Most recently, Hernandez served as president and board member for Law Raza Lawyers of Sacramento and he is currently California Judicial Council for the Criminal Law Advisory Committee.
According to the press release, FSC coalition partner the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) highly recommends Hernandez’ appointment.
Duke’s enthusiasm is palpable when she observes that “With budget shortfalls and a struggling economy, it is going to be a tough year in the California State Legislature for business in general and particularly adult business. Ignacio’s superior lobby skills, combined with his high level of professional standards, make him the clear choice for FSC. We couldn’t be happier to have him as part of our team.”
