Amateur content converts. There is no denying that fact. In the olden days, there were only a handful of content providers that shot TRUE amateur content. Today, every horny post-teen with a closet full of Clearasil and a $99 digital camera is the latest, greatest amateur content provider.
Amateur models are everywhere. They are your sister’s best friend; the three girls you saw at the food court in the mall; the hot 19-year-old in a thong buying a slushie at the beach. And… all the girls you have ever dated. They are plentiful, willing, and available.
So, how do you go about getting the girls from the food court into your apartment or hotel room to spread their legs for your camera? Well, believe it or not, it is not as hard as you think. There are about 75 mistakes you can make as an amateur photographer that will cause you headaches, nightmares and cold sweats. They may even bring you a run-in with the law. The following steps will ensure that your photography experience is a pleasurable, profitable, and legal adventure. Hell, you might even get laid.
1. Find yourself a female partner.
Now, step 1 is NOT a requirement. However, it will increase your ratio of girls you want to see naked to girls you are going to see naked. Girls respond better to other girls. If your target is exceptionally hot, chances are she has already been approached by every con man in sweat pants in your area. She will be wary. She will be skeptical. She might just say no. Hire a girl to be your “front man”. Pay her a nice commission for every girl she gets to model for you. Basically, you are paying this girl to hang out at places girls like to hang out at and talk to other girls. Is there an easier job in the world? Give her $50 for every girl that she brings to you that actually gets naked for you. Looky-loos don’t count. Make sure you make that clear from the start.
2. Meet your model in public.
There ARE girls that WILL come to your house or apartment for the first time. However, most of them will not. The problem for you is that the ones who won’t, won’t tell you that they won’t. They will set the appointment, they will confirm the appointment, they will call you from their cell phone as they are turning onto your street, they will give you five minutes notice that they are about to be there, giving you just enough time to put away the Vaseline and zip up your pants… then they won’t show up. They won’t call to apologize and they won’t call to cancel. They will commit your number to memory so that when they see it on their caller ID, they won’t answer. Meet them in a public place for the first time. Your closing ratio will increase dramatically and you will make the girl feel more comfortable. The more comfortable she is with you, the more comfortable she will be at the shoot. The more comfortable she is at the shoot, the wider her legs will open when you tell her to spread. For some, the idea of getting naked and getting nasty in front of a complete stranger is terrifying. For many it is exciting. And for a small handful, you don’t know it yet but they have been looking for you their entire adult life. You are about to make their ultimate fantasy a reality. BEFORE you discuss anything about the shoot with your prospective model, ask to see her I.D. If she forgot it, schedule the interview for another time. You want to make sure that the girl is of legal age before you discuss anything.
3. Let them know what you expect.
At your first meeting, tell them who you are and what you do. If this is not the first girl you have ever shot, show them samples of your work. If you have a website and have Internet access at your first meeting, show them your website. Showing them that you have experience makes you less of a creep and more of a professional. Tell them about the shoot and exactly what it is you expect from them. If you are going to ask them to masturbate, let them know that. If vegetables are going to be involved, let them know which vegetables you will be using, and what parts of their body you expect her to be using them on. Let them know if the vegetables are going to be coming from a commercial farm with wide use of chemical pesticides or if the vegetables were grown on a small co-op 30 miles east of Portland by a sect of lesbians with armpit hair. Tell them who will be present at the shoot and what each person’s role is in the shoot. Explain to them your policy on boyfriends / husbands / fiancés being present at the shoot. Our policy has always been to not allow it. We used to allow it until we found a boyfriend wandering through our house. Our focus at the time was on the model.
4. Give them the paperwork.
At your first meeting, give the model all the paperwork that she (or he) will be required to fill out and have her return it to you the day of the shoot, already completed. The last thing you want is for the model to later claim that you didn’t give her enough time to read and understand the model release. If you wait until the day of the shoot to give her the documents, she will be right in her claim. The day of the shoot you are going to be so anxious to see this girl naked on the bed your mom and dad bought you when you outgrew your crib that you are going to be pressuring her to fill out the release and start the shoot. You might not do it consciously, but you will do it nonetheless. Don’t push the model and that bed of yours might just get its first piece of ass, other than yours.
5. Tell them what to bring and how you want them to look.
Spell out for them exactly what you want them to bring and how you want them to look the day of the shoot. If you have specific outfits in mind that you will not be supplying, make sure that they understand that and remember to bring them. If you want their hair and makeup to be done a certain way, let them know that too. Make it clear that hair and makeup is to be done before they get to the shoot. Girls take a long time to do their hair and makeup. The last thing you want to be doing is waiting for them to do it. When they hit your place, they are on the clock. Make sure that all of their essentials are taken care of in advance, on their time. Most important, write all this down and give it to them so they don’t have an excuse when they forget something. I wish I had $1 for every time a model has shown up for a shoot with just the clothes on her back. This will limit your set options and reduce your productivity.
6. Tell them what you are going to pay them and when.
At your pre-shoot interview, let the model know exactly what she is going to receive for getting naked for you. Tell her the dollar amount, and the period of time that she will be working. Write this down on the release that you give her so that there is no misunderstanding the day of the shoot. Also, pay the model the day you shoot her. When you are all done with the shoot, discuss with the model how she did, and hand her a check.
7. Explain the negatives.
Be very upfront and honest with them about what they are committing to. Explain to them the reach of the Internet. Explain to them the reason for a release and what the release does. Explain to them that the pictures that they are about to allow you to take belong to you, will always belong to you, and that they will never have any rights to those images. Ask them if they are concerned about exposure. Explain to them that if they are concerned that somebody they know might see the pictures that they probably should satisfy their kinky sex fantasies another way. This is important not only for them, but also for you. The last thing you want to be doing three weeks after the shoot is dealing with a crying model who wants you to take her pictures down after you have already shelled out a fistful of cash.
The above seven items will make your experience of working with amateur models much more enjoyable, profitable, and successful. This is a business, there is no doubt about that, but there are not very many businesses that are as fun and exciting as this one is. Treat the models with honesty, and respect, and before you know it, her friends will be calling to arrange their pre-shoot interview. There is NOTHING like word of mouth to help you build a nice stable of girls to work with. Treat the models poorly and you won’t be able to hire a blow up doll. Most of all, relax and have a good time!
