HotMovies Earns Exclusive VOD Rights to Cecil Howard Classics
PHILADELPHIA, PA — Younger fans of modern gonzo porn may not yet be aware of the award-winning films directed by Cecil Howard, but they’ll soon be able to join the ranks of older porn lovers who know exactly how good he can be, thanks to HotMovies.com. The parent company of HotMovies, National A-1 Internet and classic adult film studio Command Cinema Corp. have reached an exclusive agreement that guarantees that such cornerstones in the adult industry’s history as Howard’s Dangerous Stuff will reach a new generation of fans while thrilling those already familiar with his work.
A dozen titles from Howard’s catalogue of rare films and videos with Command Cinema will be released via HotMovies.com over the coming months. Howard waited two decades before releasing Babylon Pink and Neon Nights on DVD in 2005, shortly before completing negotiations with National A-1 for the internet’s VOD market.
With the DVD market flagging and the internet providing for an increasing number of skin flick fixes, AVN Hall of Fame recipient Howard concluded that “The relationship between HotMovies.com and Command Cinema has been so successful, that I have decided to forgo immediate DVD re-release on the next round of movies.”
That means that the only way to watch 1985’s multiple AVN Award winning feature, Dangerous Stuff, is to either own an antique copy or watch it on HotMovies.com. Another 11 titles will be distributed exclusively to HotMovies.com and its affiliated sites, with Babylon Pink 2 joining the line-up on March 1st.
“This really is a treasure trove of classics that was lost to the consuming public until now,” HotMovies director of business development, James Cybert, explains in a company press release. “So many fans of classic adult cinema have longed to revisit these titles, which simply weren’t available anywhere. It is a great pleasure for us to bring these quality movies back to the forefront.”
Dangerous Stuff, which earned the 1986 AVN Award for Best Video Feature also introduced the world’s VCRs to Penthouse Centerfold Angel. Joining her in a production shot surreptitiously on a Broadway stage before a live audience, also features Renee Summers, Taija Rae, and Eric Edwards.
“HotMovies earned my trust,” Howard says by way of explanation. “They do what they say they are going to do. I like to be involved in the process to some degree, and they have been willing to work closely with me every step of the way.”
