CYBERSPACE — If their Web-surfing habits are any indication, Ohioans are the horniest people in the U.S.Based on data collected through the end of 2007, Hitwise ranked Ohio first per-capita in porn-site visits. The state slid slightly during the first half of 2008, but it still ranks among the top 10. Wyoming took over the lead during August with Ohio coming in at No. 8, but Ohioans remained 18 percent more likely than any other Americans to surf the Web for adult entertainment.

“Right now, Ohio accounts for about 4.9-percent of all adult site visits,” Bill Tancer, general manager of Global Research at Hitwise, told Ohio’s WTVN talk radio. “Typically, visits to porn sites tend to correlate negatively with the economy. Adult content websites typically increase in popularity during bleak economic times.”

Tancer also said the most popular search term during the first two weeks in September was “Sarah Palin.” Surfers searched for Palin more often than any other candidate in the past three years, and Palin searches even surpassed those for Britney Spears and Paris Hilton.
