Hefner and His Three Girlfriends Pimp New Reality Show
LOS ANGELES, CA – Playboy founder Hugh Hefner told a live audience on Sunday that his upcoming reality television show, The Girls Next Door, will offer a real and unscripted look at life in the Playboy Mansion.Hefner was speaking on a panel for the Television Critics Association’s summer publicity tour, during a stop in Los Angeles, when he told the audience that his reality show would be different from most TV reality shows.
“This is not a pre-scripted show,” Hefner assured the audience. “It really is a look inside the Playboy mansion. I’ve turned down a lot of offers over the last several years, in terms of the premise of a reality show, but in this case I decided to do it with somebody that I trust very much, Kevin Burns, our producer, a close friend, and an Emmy Award winner.”
Hefner, who is 79 and who describes himself as “one of the luckiest cats on the planet,” was accompanied on the panel by three of his current girlfriends, who were aged 20, 25 and 31.
One of the women accompanying Hefner was asked why she was willing to share him with the other girls.
“You do funny things when you’re in love,” she giggled in reply.
Hef’s earlier claims that the show was entirely unscripted, however, were made questionable when one of his girlfriends admitted that she wasn’t happy when it was planned to bring Hugh’s ex-girlfriends to the mansion during filming for dramatic effect.
“I didn’t like it when they want[ed] to bring [Hefner’s] ex-girlfriends around, but I didn’t have any choice in that,” she said. “I mean he’s dating other people. I don’t need to deal with the ex’s too.”
According to Hefner, the show will draw interest “because there has been, for many, many years, a tremendous fascination with my life and the life at the mansion, and you will get a sense of that.”
The Girls Next Door will appear on August 7th on E! Network.
