Heavenly Body: Space-Race Nude up for Auction
YNOT – Without question, former Playboy Playmate DeDe Lind’s was a heavenly body. In an astronomical twist, her unique cosmic allure — as a bit of sexy historical trivia — is up for sale.
A calendar card from November 1969 featuring an image from Lind’s Miss August 1967 layout in Playboy magazine traveled where no pinups had gone before: into space aboard Apollo 12, secreted as a prank aboard the command module, Yankee Clipper.
While Lind’s is not the only pinup to make a voyage through space — Angela Dorian, Cynthia Myers and Leslie Bianchini also stowed away on Apollo 12 — Lind’s classic innocence, in all its historical glory, soon will belong to the winner of Yankee Clipper Pilot Richard Gordon’s online auction.
The pinup’s opening bid is $1,000. Gordon describes the piece of sexual and cultural history as “the unofficial fourth crewmate of Apollo 12.”
“This is to certify that the accompanying 4.5″ x 6.25″ cue card did, indeed, accompany me on my trip to the moon in the command module Yankee Clipper aboard the historic Apollo 12 lunar landing mission,” the description, written by Gordon, notes. “This cue card, which flew with me to the moon, has been in my sole possession and part of my personal space collection since my return from the moon in 1969 aboard America’s second lunar landing mission, and it remains one of the all-time greatest Apollo-era astronaut ‘gotcha’s!’”
It’s difficult to imagine better evidence that porn truly can be “out of this world.”
