Got a Healthcare Message for Congress? Say it with a Vibe.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The seemingly unending wrestling match over healthcare in the U.S. Congress has left many Americans frustrated and angry. Women are especially out of sorts about Republican efforts to “repeal or replace” the Affordable Care Act, since women’s health barely receives any attention in the latest version of the Senate’s Better Care Reconciliation Act, which seems aimed at satisfying healthy, wealthy men. Of particular concern is a section that would defund Planned Parenthood, a nonprofit organization that has provided low-cost or no-cost reproductive health services and sexual education to one out of every five American women since 1916.
Unbound, a sexual lifestyle company, has devised a way for fed-up Americans to relieve tension and tell congresscritters to get fucked at the same time. The #VibesForCongress campaign offers to send a vibrator of your choice to your congressional representative for $15. The package will include the vibe, an educational pamphlet and a message that access to health care is not up for debate.
Seventy-five percent of the purchase price will be donated to Planned Parenthood; the remainder will cover the cost of the vibe and shipping. Unbound said the entire campaign is an at-cost proposition — it will make no profit on sales.
The initiative is designed to “shed a light on the importance of women’s health in the face of changes that would pose significant limitations to healthcare and demonstrate that women will not stay silent,” a statement distributed by the company noted. The campaign hopes to “raise awareness for the thousands of women who are currently at the mercy of the government’s pending legislation.”
