Good Vibrations Sponsors Lynn Comella’s Vibrator Nation Book Event for SF LitQuake
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The Center for Sex & Culture will host a LitQuake book launch for the groundbreaking book Vibrator Nation, featuring author Lynn Comella in conversation about her first-of-its-kind history of the sex-toy revolution on Sunday October 8th at 6:00 pm. The event is sponsored by legendary retailer Good Vibrations.
In the 1970s, a group of pioneering feminist entrepreneurs launched sex-toy stores Eve’s Garden and Good Vibrations as both commercial enterprises and hubs for educational and community resources. Later came a second wave, with Babeland and other shops. Vibrator Nation author Lynn Comella tells the fascinating history of how these stores raised sexual consciousness, redefined the adult industry, and changed women’s lives. This compulsively readable book has been featured in The Atlantic, Rolling Stone, and numerous other press outlets since its publication in early September.
Comella appears as part of San Francisco’s wide-ranging literary celebration LitQuake, in conversation with Good Vibrations Staff Sexologist Dr. Carol Queen. There is no charge for this event, but donations will be gratefully accepted to defray the cost of the space. Copies of Vibrator Nation will be available for purchase.
