Girlsway Uses Crowdsourcing to Develop Content
MONTREAL – Since its launch in 2014, lesbian website Girlsway has asked site members for their help in casting scenes. Not only does the practice result in some options producers and directors might not have considered, but it also gives members a vested interest in the website and its productions.
Now the site is taking its crowdsourcing activity another step by asking members for their help in creating content concepts. Like a television network, Girlsway.com will showcase “pilots” to generate feedback and lay the groundwork for potential future series.
“The vision is to develop our pilots in much the same way a [network] would develop a TV series,” said Bree Mills, head of production for Girlsway parent company Gamma Entertainment. “Once we hatch an initial idea, we’ll get it out there, gather the feedback of our fans, and use their comments to spin off additional episodes.
“What’s most exciting is that our members will be involved from the get-go, not only after we’re 25 scenes into production,” Mills continued. “With members as passionate as ours, I can’t wait to see what they have to say.
According to Derrick Gilbert, affiliate manager for Gamma marketing division FameDollars, “The Girlsway pilots will be something that affiliates will have an easy time converting. With big names and tailored scene treatments, the user is getting what they are looking for.”
