Girls Go Wild During Pope’s Good Friday Broadcast
PHILADELPHIA, PA — Cable porn glitches have become all the rage lately, but timing is everything and the latest mishap picked a uniquely sensitive moment to happen. Fortunately, in what may be a statement about early morning television viewers and religious programming, only one person appears to have cared. The 30-second spot for the latest Girls Gone Wild release made its unscheduled appearance during Comcast’s 2:00 am coverage of the Vatican’s Good Friday service, catching one night owl’s attention.
According to company representative Jeff Alexander, although the moment of softcore smut was broadcast to the entire Philadelphia area, only one viewer saw fit to contact Comcast to report it.
What should have interrupted the live holiday broadcast from St. Peter’s Basilica was a test of the Emergency Alert System, which is mandated by law. The test is supposed to switch viewers to a specific channel containing information in the event of an emergency. When there is no emergency, the channel features regular programming.
In this case, a Girls Gone Wild ad was playing.
Once the test of the system was completed, viewers were returned to their regularly scheduled seat in the virtual basilica.
