GameLink Challenges Apple’s Jobs to Test-Drive iPhone Porn Platform
YNOT – GameLink, a San Francisco-based division of Barcelona-based Private Media Group, has extended a challenge to Apple Chief Executive Officer Steve Jobs: “‘Go there’ with porn by testing our streaming mobile platform on your own iPhone.”The invitation emerged amid continuing bitterness in the adult entertainment industry over what insiders consider blatant and unfair censorship by Apple’s iTunes Store. Apple’s internal censors recently dumped several hundred softcore iPhone applications, claiming Apple did not want to “go there” in a family-focused environment. Most galling to the adult industry was Apple’s decision to allow titillating apps developed by mainstream publications like Sports Illustrated to remain in the iTunes Store, despite their content being no “softer” than that in the apps promoted by companies known to have ties to adult.
“You know, there’s a porn store for Android,” Jobs told attendees during an iPhone 4.0 operating system preview in early April. “You can download nothing but porn…. That’s a place we don’t want to go — so we’re not going to go there.”
Later in the month, he told popular technology blog TechCrunch, “…[W]e do believe we have a moral responsibility to keep porn off the iPhone. Folks who want porn can buy an Android phone.”
Launched earlier this month, GameLink’s a-la-carte adult mobile solution for customers, studios and affiliates arose in direct response to Apple’s censorship. The platform allows iPhone, iPad, iPod and Android users to stream mobile .mp4 files on their devices and purchase the full complement of GameLink’s adult catalogue with nothing more than an internet connection.
GameLink urges iPhone users to disregard Job’s recent suggestion that those users who wish to see adult content on their phones should purchase Android phones instead.
“Fortunately for adult iPhone users and Mr. Jobs, not only does GameLink offer a mobile web platform for streaming porn on the iPhone … [but all of] Apple’s mobile devices … come equipped with a de facto porn portal: [the] Safari [web browser]. To access GameLink’s new mobile platform, just point your browser at GameLink.com to be redirected to the new streaming mobile site,” the company advised in a formal statement.
“Maybe Mr. Jobs is so dead-set against having porn on the iPhone because he’s never ‘gone there’ and actually watched porn on the iPhone,” GameLink Director of Business Development suggested. “So, GameLink is inviting Mr. Jobs to finally ‘go there’ by testing out our mobile site offering and seeing how gratifying streaming porn on the iPhone can be.
“We’re proud of our site and believe our streaming mobile porn has a place on the iPhone – it certainly has demand,” Dillon said. “In the past six months alone, the number of customers purchasing iTunes-ready movies has grown 64 percent, with the number of titles and studios offered growing 30 percent and 43 percent, respectively.
“Should Steve Jobs take us up on our offer to ‘go there’ with our streaming porn on his iPhone, we will provide him with a test account and a library full of .mp4 files to stream on his iPhone or download and sync with iTunes.”
