FSC Reports Porn Patient Alpha Retests HIV Negative
YNOT – The Free Speech Coalition reported this weekend that the porn performer dubbed “Patient Alpha” has retested as HIV negative.
The test was conducted by Adult Production Health and Safety Services (APHSS), an FSC-backed initiative that is designed to fill the void left by the demise of Adult Industry Medical (AIM) clinics. Despite the negative test, however, the FSC has vowed that further follow-up testing will take place.
The testing is part of an on-going situation involving a male adult performer who was believed to be HIV-positive prior to this weekend’s developments.
On Sunday, the FSC supposed a shut-down of productions as it coordinated with APHSS on whether the “Patient Alpha” performer was indeed negative for HIV, or if he had possibly exposed other performers. The shutdown has been voluntary.
FSC Executive Director Diane Duke said of the situation and the testing:
“This is good news for the primary patient, the industry will continue to be abundantly cautious as we try to nail down the reasons for what now appears to have been a false positive result on a previous test. After discussion with our medical expert, he has advised that it would be appropriate for production to resume and the focus of attention brought to those who had worked with the performer. That group is already receiving care.”
“FSC/APHSS.org will narrow the circle of caution to focus our concern on the group of people who had worked with the performer,” Duke added. “Our prayers and utmost empathy go out to the performer in what has been a very difficult period. Industry self-regulation and best practices are alive and well in the adult entertainment industry – and they work. We fully understand that it is vitally important (that) adult performers have a place to go that is safe, trusted and transparent.”
The AIDS Healthcare Foundation, in the meantime, held a press conference in which they spoke harshly of the FSC and Brazzers (an adult production company) regarding the situation.
In response, the FSC said that they were being falsely accused of interfering with the Los Angeles County Public Health Department and withholding information from authorities. The FSC demanded that the AHF retract both statements.
Manwin, meanwhile, owners of Brazzers, also demanded that AHF retract an additional report made during AHF’s press conference where it was alleged that Brazzers was involved in the “Patient Alpha” situation.
