FreeOnes Gears Up for First Holiday Fundraising Drive
YNOT – FreeOnes’ holiday charity drive will begin Nov. 30 and run through Dec. 23. The event is a new entry on the babe directory’s annual calendar, a spokeswoman said, meant to engage the entire FreeOnes community in the spirit of giving.
“Every year we contribute to several different charities,” said Petra, organizer of the charity drive. “However, this year we wanted to do something a little different. Instead of making all our donations as normal, we decided to set aside a small portion in order to start a charity drive. This way we can get our Miss FreeOnes winners involved by nominating charities close to their hearts and raise awareness for all the nominated charities. [In addition, we can] make the amount donated more than what we’d have donated to that particular charity ourselves.”
Toward that goal, the 2012 Miss FreeOnes winners have created a list of 10 different charities they feel deserve their support. The list, composed of charitable organizations worldwide, includes:
- Humane Society International
- Wounded Warriors
- Polaris Project
- Susan G. Komen for the Cure
- American Red Cross
- Breast Cancer Research Foundation
- Mine Kafon
- CBM UK
“As you can see, we have a broad range of charities to choose from,” Petra said. “To kick off our charity drive, we’re donating $1,000, and we’re inviting [other] companies to help us raise more through sponsorship. The chosen charity will receive more money, and the donor gets the benefit of their company banner on the charity page, which will be getting loads of traffic. It’s a win-win situation.”
FreeOnes members will choose one charity to receive all funds raised, she added.
“At the end of November, visitors to FreeOnes will be able to visit the charity drive page and vote for the charity they think deserves the donation the most,” Petra said. “Then, on Dec. 24, we will officially announce which charity will be getting the money.
“We sincerely hope to make someone’s holiday with this donation since our entire team is aware that overall donations are down to charities due to the economy.”
