CANOGA PARK, CA — The Free Speech Coalition (FSC) announced today that the one-day fundraising event FreedomStreams ’07, held this year on April 15th, raised close to $20,000 for the FSC Legal Defense Fund.During the one day event, participating adult studios donate their earnings from sales of their content via HotMovies.com to the FSC, donations that National A-1, parent company of HotMovies.com, then matches, dollar for dollar, with a contribution of its own.

According to the FSC release, this year’s event drew 69 donors representing over 320 studios, including West Coast Productions, Legend Video, VCX, Hush Hush Entertainment, JapanX and SMASH Pictures.

“It took months of preparation and hard work by the staff of HotMovies to enlist the support of their online studios for this special event,” said Scott L. Lowther, Director of Membership Services for the FSC. “We are truly indebted to HotMovies.com.”

Lowther called the FreedomStreams concept “brilliantly simple,” adding that the “the end result was a collaborative partnership that is responsible for the largest member-driven fundraising event in FSC’s history to date.”

“We couldn’t be more pleased with this result,” said Lowther.

In its release, the FSC states that over the course of the past year, “the adult entertainment industry has seen a marked increase in government aggression at both the state and federal levels,” and that the “best way to turn that tide is as the unified voice of a unified industry,” through the FSC.

“It’s more important than ever that we continue to work together to meet our challenges head on,” said Lowther. “So, again, thank you to everyone.”
