Free Speech Coalition Hoists Piracy 101 at Phoenix Forum
CANOGA PARK, CA — Dressing and talking like a pirate may still be hip and cool, but those attempting to protect their content — pornographic or otherwise — from real world piracy on the internet high seas will have a chance during this weekend’s Phoenix Forum to puzzle out ways to make the outlaws walk the plank, thanks to the Free Speech Coalition. According to a press release from the FSC, this Friday’s 12:30 – 2:00pm Phoenix Forum lunch break at the Mission Palms’ Abbey will feature Anti-Piracy 101, sponsored by Sureflix Digital Distribution.
Designed to help both small and large businesses understand the issues surrounding piracy, as well as develop strategies for protecting trademarks and content, Piracy 101 will include information on a wide variety of topics. By program end, attendees should have the tools to copyright their own materials, understand how to protect content and track any that becomes pirated, possess templates for cease-and-desist letters and takedown notices, and learn how to build a case against thieves.
“We have an impressive line-up of experts in the field who will move participants through some of the most basic steps to protecting their content,” explains Diane Duke, FSC executive director. “Participants choose the segment that interests them most, and walk away with information they can begin to utilize in their own business the following Monday.”
Piracy 101 speakers are attorney Greg Piccionelli Esq., Falcon Foto president and founding PAK Group member Jason Tucker, SpecPub, Inc manager Adam Lucas, and Ark Home Entertainment president Kevin Song.
“This is the first stage of the anti-piracy plan developed by the partnering of FSC and GAPA (Global Anti-Piracy Agency founded and sponsored by Sureflix),” assures interim executive director and FSC consultant Caryn Goldberg. “FSC and GAPA have come together to do this important work and we are coordinating our efforts with the anti-piracy producers’ group, PAK Group, to make this an industry-wide effort.”
