CHEYENNE, Wyo. – A hookup app is taking an unusual approach to marketing: Until May 31, women and “female couples” who join the service will receive free lifetime premium memberships.

Pardon us for saying so, but… Don’t casual dating and hookup apps usually provide women with free premium accounts year-round? Generally speaking, where attractive, sexually liberated women go, so go men looking for sex. Those men often pay for access to premium features.

On the other hand, women who are not sex workers fairly seldom feel compelled to advertise their availability in a forum that costs money. Not that women are cheap. They’re merely realists when it comes to the dynamics of carnality.

All of the above leads to another whole line of speculation about casual dating and hookup apps, but that’s probably a path best not followed.

In any case, Mixxxer — which calls itself “a mobile sex finder…that helps users quickly find hookups based on proximity” — is offering female users a free ride for a limited time.

According to a statement owners of the seven-month-old web-based app released Wednesday, the app claims 400,000 members.

“Enrollment numbers have steadily surged this past year with daring swingers and singles,” the statement notes. “Mixxxer is looking to cast a wider net towards the fairer sex and invite more women into the mix.”

Premium members are granted access to Mixxxer’s one-on-one messaging and customizable privacy filters, location controls, photo messaging and posting. Members are able to communicate freely with anyone they like via texts and photos, with no limits on explicit behavior.

“We have been steadily growing our client base, and we invite more women to join us and see what we have to offer,” said Mixxxer founder Michael Manes. “We are confident that our unique security filters will appeal to those who might otherwise be uncomfortable signing onto a site like this. We take our clients’ privacy very seriously.”
