For Sale: Church. Strip Club Owners Need Not Make Offer
NASHVILLE, TN — Parishioners at Frederick Barr’s Power House Christian Center are looking forward to praising the Lord in a larger building, but first the old building needs to find a new owner. Barr will accept nearly any offer, so long as it doesn’t come from anyone thinking to retrofit the building and turn it into a strip club.Barr told the Nashville Tennessean that his flock is only one of many moving to greener – and bigger – pastures in the suburbs.
“As long as it does not get turned into a strip club, we’re happy,” he assured the press, when discussing the sale of the current property.
Although other churches in the area have found themselves converted into nightclubs, community centers, community theaters, insurance offices, architectural workspaces, meeting halls, condominiums, offices – and in one case, the Anthony’s Showcase gentlemen’s club – Barr and congregation are most concerned about the latter bit of history repeating itself.
Karen Hoff, the broker for the Power House Christian Center, believes the building would be better served as a condominium, an office, or a funky family dwelling where, presumably, nothing of a risqué nature would ever take place.
