Fluid Player: Free, Open-Source HTML5 Video
BARCELONA – Adult advertising network ExoClick has created an open-source video player and released it free. The player uses the HTML5 tag, obviating the need for Flash, which — due to security risks and out-of-date technology — no longer suits the needs of many adult online businesses.
Fluid Player, downloadable at GitHub, may be used without charge on membership sites, live-cam sites and tube sites.
“Video players are the most important pieces of software within the online adult industry,” said ExoClick founder and Chief Executive Officer Benjamin Fonzé. “In many cases, publishers are still using Flash and old-tech video players which are not optimised for today’s demands. Publisher sites can now use Fluid Player as their go-to video player.”
Fluid Player can be used to monetize ad spots, because it is optimized to work seamlessly with ExoClick’s pre-roll, in-stream video ad format. Fonzé was quick to add, however, that the player also can be used with any other ad server, ad network or ad exchange.
Fluid Player’s features include:
Multiple device and multiple browser support.
Open-source code.
Completely customizable.
Configurable “skip” and “call to action” buttons.
Compatible with industry-standard digital Video Ad Serving Template (VAST).
“ExoClick’s new free Fluid Player is the company’s contribution to the adult community,” Fonzé said. “It’s a cool, advanced video player that is very easy to implement. We developed it using open-source code. Publishers and developers can contribute to and modify the code using CSS to totally customize the player and then share it with the rest of the GitHub community.”
