Florida Judge in Dutch Over Role in Stripper’s Financial Shenanigans
TAMPA, FL — Florida’s judicial oversight board has reprimanded a Tampa judge for assisting a stripper in concealing financial assets from creditors. The Florida Judicial Qualifications committee has not yet determined what action it may take against Judge Thomas E. Stringer Sr., but members accepted an investigation’s revelation that Stringer opened bank accounts for exotic dancer Christy Yamanaka, who was trying to avoid repaying more than $300,000 in debts. In addition, the panel determined Stringer held the title to some Hawaiian real estate in his name when the property actually belonged to Yamanaka.
As if that weren’t enough, the panel also determined Stringer accepted a trip to Las Vegas and other gifts from Yamanaka and then neglected to report them.
Although the judge has admitted being friends with Yamanaka, he said he didn’t do anything improper.
