First Montreal YNOT Grand Prix Smokes the Track
MONTREAL – The first YNOT Grand Prix to take place in Montreal held more than a few surprises as drivers set new records for both lap times and composition of the field.
For the first time, nearly one-third of the 30 drivers were women, and they proved to be fierce competitors. Though none turned up in the winners circle, as a group the ladies demonstrated they’re a force with which to be reckoned. Many vowed to hone their skills and leave their male counterparts in the dust next time.
Much like the Formula 1 events the YNOT Grand Prix mimics on a smaller scale, races are not without risk. Vid Vicious can attest to that: During one especially harrowing lap on what race organizer LAJ described as a very challenging track, Vicious lost control of his kart and spun into a wall.
“Vid burned his arm when he slammed into the rubber blockade, but he handled it like a champ,” LAJ said.
“Overall, though, the event ran very smoothly,” he added. “Kart-O-Mania is a nice facility, and the traditional Canadian smoked-meat sandwiches the sponsors served trackside were delicious. We’ll definitely take the YNOT Grand Prix back to Montreal next year. In fact, I plan to make Qwebec Expo part of the annual schedule.”
Montreal’s winners were:
- First place: Erik C of Digital Performance, with a record-breaking lap time of less than 28 seconds.
- Second place: Erik B from Pay4.
- Third place: Juicy Jay, founder of JuicyAds
“JuicyJay seems like such a nice guy until he gets behind the wheel of a kart,” LAJ mused.
Presented by title sponsor JuicyAds, the Montreal race — fourth of five YNOT Grand Prix events scheduled for 2013 — took place Aug. 8 at Kart-O-Mania, as an official kick-off for the Qwebec Expo trade show and conference. Other sponsors included 2000Charge, Dating Factory, FN Cash, WebcamWiz, RIVCash and YNOT Mail.
The final race of the season, presented by 2000Charge, will take place Sept. 24 in Budapest as part of The European Summit. For more information visit YNOTgp.com. To secure a sponsorship or driver’s seat, contact LAJ by email or ping ICQ 92418228.
