Finding A Foothold In The Online Adult Market – Part 1
“Anything is hard to find, when you will not open your eyes…”“Anything is hard to find, when you will not open your eyes…”
Hey – relax… I can already hear your groans and moans. Don’t worry, I’m not going to ramble on about free sites, TGPs, and pic posts. In fact, I’m not going to talk about adult stuff at all. I’m going to talk about business, the art of productivity, and taking advantage of what you’re already good at to carve your niche here in online adult.
It’s going to take some smarts, and a lot of sweat, but most of what I’m going to tell you is based on common sense. You might even say, “I could’ve had a V8!” and slap your forehead at the conclusion of this article. (If you do, please get a picture and send it to me. That’d be hilarious!)
Grab your soft drink and get ready to get motivated. I’m no Tony Robbins, but I do know a thing or two about online adult. I’ve been in this industry since 1\’\’7, and I’ve been involved in internet businesses of one kind or another since 1\’\’5. I’m here to tell you that, yes, you can make money in this business. And it’s probably even easier than you think – if you’re looking in the right place. Ever listen to The Smiths? I do. There’s a song quote which is practically made for this business. “Anything is hard to find, when you will not open your eyes.” Remember that quote. In fact, do yourself a favor, write it on a piece of paper, and thumb-tack it to your wall right now. You’ll thank me later.
For the purposes of this article, I’m assuming that you, gentle reader, are either a newbie to online adult, or perhaps you’re a wayward vagabond traveling on the fringes of the ‘great emerald city’ trying to figure out what the hell is going on in this crazy place. Maybe you’ve been struggling at this for awhile with no success. Perhaps you’ve been quite successful but don’t know where to go from here. If any of these descriptions fit you, read on.
First, throw out all of your preconceived notions about the online adult industry. I don’t want a single internet acronym to enter your mind. Don’t think about traffic, don’t think about porn, don’t think about your sponsors, don’t think about your fellow webmasters. The fact of the matter is, there’s a \’ out of 10 chance that YOU, yes you, the guy/gal reading these words, haven’t the foggiest clue of how the real money is made and/or how the successful ‘giants’ in online adult got to where they are today.
