COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC — According to Pastor Don Lawings of Faith Baptist Church, the faithful of Columbus County want the area’s two strip clubs out of business, now and forever, even if they do help people find their place of worship.”We don’t want that across from the street from a church,” Lawings insisted, referring to the establishments. “We don’t like people finding our church from knowing about that place. We’d be thankful if there weren’t any of those establishments in Columbus County.”

Part of what prompts Lawings’ plea to law enforcement agencies and political figures is the fact that the Magic Moments exotic dance club, located across from the Faith Baptist Church, is currently closed.

Such can not be said for the Whispers Club, which is a comfortable distance from any Christian house of God.

In addition to asking their commissioners in writing to outlaw the clubs, members of Lawings’ church plan to attend a court hearing tomorrow and speak out against both the Magic Moments and the Whisper Club.
