Elevated X Waives Setup Fees as a Way of Protecting Children
YNOT – With pornography’s emergence as one of the hot-button talking points during the 2012 election cycle, software developer Elevated X has decided to put its money where its mouth is and increase its support of child-protection advocacy organization ASACP. According to representatives for both outfits, increased evidence of the adult entertainment industry’s opposition to child sexual abuse can’t hurt the industry’s image, and it may help.
ASACP — Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection — arose within the adult industry. Founded in 1996, the non-profit organization’s mission is to ferret out and report websites and individuals that traffic in suspected child sexual abuse. The organization maintains a CP Reporting Hotline and developed the Restricted to Adults website labeling program that allows parents an easy way to block children’s access to inappropriate adult content at the web-browser level.
To show its support for ASACP’s mission, Elevated X will donate to the ASACP Foundation 10 percent of every purchase of the Elevated X adult content management system made between now and May 31. In addition, the software company will waive the standard $500 setup fee for any ASACP member.
“We believe that advocating for children’s rights and protecting children is important,” Elevated X Chief Executive Officer AJ Hall said. “We’re happy to put our support behind an organization like ASACP by offering a discount for anyone who shares in supporting this cause.”
According to ASACP Executive Director Tim Henning, “Elevated X has a distinguished history of supporting ASACP in unique ways, including the automatic integration of the Restricted To Adults child-protection meta label into its client websites. This provides an immediate front-line defense against minors accessing a site’s age-restricted content while demonstrating the website owner’s desire to do the right thing.
“ASACP and sister organization ASACP Foundation rely on the generous financial support and other assistance they receive from sponsors, members and contributors in order to carry out our mission of keeping children out of and away from adult entertainment,” he continued. “During this current U.S. election year, when the politics of porn are playing out across the world stage, it’s even more important than ever for the industry to show its support of ASACP — the trade group that helps businesses protect themselves by protecting children.”
