‘Elevate’ Shines Spotlight on Rae Threat
SEATTLE, Wash. – Elevate, presented by Streamate, has announced its latest collaboration, this time teaming up with filmmaker, photographer, and esteemed queer and sex worker advocate, Rae Threat. Elevate is recognizing Rae to shine “a spotlight on Rae’s significant contributions to the adult community, emphasizing her grassroots engagement and advocacy through visually captivating imagery.”
“We are honored to feature Rae Threat as part of our ongoing commitment to highlighting individuals who are making a positive impact within the adult industry,” a spokesperson for Elevate said. “Rae’s unique perspective and unwavering dedication to promoting diversity and empowerment are truly inspiring.”
The announcement also noted that in an exclusive interview conducted by Streamate’s Vanessa Eve, Rae “Rae shared intimate details of her early life, reflecting on her upbringing as a first-generation Thai-American in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles.”
“Through this candid conversation, Rae provides insights into her remarkable journey from a serendipitous encounter at a nightclub to becoming a prominent figure in the world of photography and advocacy,” the announcement added.
In the interview, Rae recalls “the pivotal moment that kickstarted her photography career,” a chance encounter with a “nightlife promoter that led to her first publication in LA Weekly.” The announcement noted that this “initial success paved the way for Rae’s immersion in the adult community, attracting the attention of esteemed figures such as Eon McKai and eventually propelling her into a new realm of artistic expression.”
In the announcement, Elevate added that “Rae’s commitment to representing diverse voices is vividly showcased in her work, beginning from her early collaborations with renowned individuals like Dana DeArmond, Jiz Lee, and Courtney Trouble.”
“Through her radical advocacy for queer, trans, and diverse body types, Rae has not only challenged societal norms but has also provided a platform for underrepresented communities to shine,” Elevate added.
Rae said she’s “excited to be a part of the Elevate Program, as it’s important to highlight the advocacy behind the doors that most people don’t see.”
“I’m looking forward to being able to share my experiences advocating for more representation,” Rae added. “Thank you for this opportunity, as I hope it can help underrepresented creators in our community be seen. Representation always matters.”
