LOS ANGELES – Two and one-half years ago, Ela Darling set out on a mission to bring virtual-reality porn to the masses. She was way ahead of her time. Although she launched a website then — VRTube.xxx — it was not until this week that she launched the project of her heart: Cam4VR.

Officially owning the title of the world’s first VR cam girl, Darling metamorphosed from porn star to VR pioneer, pushing boundaries and even developing the patent-pending VR technology that now powers her new endeavor.

“Plenty of other sites have tried to muscle in and claim they are the first to do VR cams, but that’s okay,” she said. “With VRTube.xxx we were the first to offer a virtual reality live cam platform, and now with Cam4 we have been able to scale up in a big way… Nobody else can offer the kind of 3D, 360-degree live cam experience that we’re bringing forth.”

Cam4VR offers as many as eight shows per day. According to Darling, the company aims to “ramp up to 24/7 coverage pretty quickly.” Darling herself plans to stream content for several hours in the first few days. Raven Rockette, Violet Monroe, Sovereign Syre and Poison Dollz will join her.

Darling said she sees her offering as empowering performers, who receive have the opportunity to stream live broadcasts in standard 2D and 3D virtual reality at the same time.

“What Cam4 and I have been determined to do from the start is to enable performers to deliver their content in all formats, providing a tailored experience to fans who have the option of watching in standard 2D or VR,” she said.
