EchoStar Adds Spice and Playboy Entertainment Options
ENGLEWOOD, CO — EchoStar unit Transporter Encryption Services Corporation (TESC) — which the average American knows as DishNetwork — added two new adult services to its satellite menu on Tuesday.Along with other business deals, a U.S. Securities and Exchange filing shows that the international satellite television products and services giant added Playboy’s Spice Hot Entertainment and Playboy Entertainment to its programming roster.
What this means is that Playboy now gains the right to broadcast five of its television networks within the United States via the international satellite provider, beginning in October.
This boosts the Playboy presence on the number two rated satellite system, since its Playboy TV and one other property are already available to the company’s 12 million subscribers.
Playboy Enterprises with share revenue from the deal with TESC, after minimum revenue requirements for the networks have been achieved. Exact details of the arrangement are unknown.
The deal is good for three years. Playboy stocks recently gined $0.06 to $9.46 in trading.
